By signing up to participate in Friends of Cinemuse, you accept these terms and conditions. Please read them carefully.

Friends of Aeon is a donations programme of recurring monthly or annual donations. You can find information about Friends of Cinemuse, the benefits and the costs here.

Who we are

We are a not-for-profit, registered charity Cinemuse Foundation NPC, registered address Workshop17, V&A Waterfront, Cape Town 8001.

Donations made by US taxpayers to Cinemuse Foundation NPC are tax-deductible, and you will receive a tax receipt from Cinemuse.  Donations above R50 made by South African taxpayers to Cinemuse are tax-deductible, and you will receive a tax receipt from Cinemuse. Donations are tax-deductible to the donor to the extent allowed under applicable law.

Billing authorisation 

When you become a Friend of Cinemuse, you authorise us to deduct a donation each billing period, at the then-current rate, to the payment account you provide when you signed up to Friends of Cinemuse.

‘Billing period’ means monthly if you choose to pay monthly or annual if you choose to pay annually.

If you choose to pay monthly for your Friends of Cinemuse donation, payment will be charged to your chosen payment account each month. If you choose to pay annually for your Friends of Cinemuse donation, the total annual fee for the year will be charged to your chosen payment account 12 months after you made your first payment and annually thereafter.

Your Friends of Cinemuse donation will continue at the end of each billing period until you cancel it (please see below for details regarding how you can cancel your Friends of Cinemuse donation). If you choose to pay for your Friends of Cinemuse donation annually, we will send you a reminder 30 days prior to the date when your Friends of Cinemuse donation is going to renew. You must cancel your Friends of Cinemuse donation before it renews at the start of the next billing period in order to avoid the next billing period’s donation being billed to your payment account.

Refund policy 

There are generally no refunds or credits made for Friends of Aeon donations. However, if you believe a charge was made in error, rather than lodging a dispute, please contact us first so that we can resolve it quickly and arrange a refund if appropriate. The reason being that disputes lodged with financial institutions may result in charges to Cinemuse, which can be costly for a charity.

Cancellation

If you would like to change or cancel your ongoing credit card donation, you can do this directly from your PayFast or PayPal user account. When you signed up you will have created an account or would have used your existing PayPal or PayFast account. If you would like to change or cancel your ongoing donation via PayPal, simply log in to your PayPal account. If you have any questions, please contact PayPal support. But if you have any problems, please don’t hesitate to contact us to assist.

You may cancel your Friends of Cinemuse donation at any time, and you will continue to have access to the Friends of Cinemuse benefits until the end of that calendar month.

If a payment is not successfully settled, due to expiration, insufficient funds, or otherwise, and you do not edit your payment account information or cancel your account, we may cease your Friends of Cinemuse benefits.
